I've been passionate about aquatic animal health since my undergraduate years. My first research project was on Vibriosis in Penaeus monodon postlarvae in local hatcheries. This passion led me to enroll in a master's program in Aquaculture, where I tracked the movement of White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) in extensive shrimp farming systems in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam. The success of that study brought me to a Ph.D. program in Applied Marine Biosciences, where I worked on identifying the molecular markers for hemocytes from Kuruma shrimp Marsupenaeus japonicus.
After my Ph.D., I joined the Aquaculture Pathology Laboratory (APL) as a postdoc and was eventually promoted to Scientist. Recently, I have become interested in discovering new pathogens, developing diagnostics, and creating therapies to manage aquatic animal health.
